St. Dismas the Good Thief The good thief who died on the right side of Christ - Dismas is the one who rebuked the bad thief and asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom. Legend from the Arabic infancy gospel - says that a band of thieves, including Dismas and Gestas, attacked the Holy Family during their flight into Egypt. One of the thieves realized there was something special about the family and ordered the fellow bandits to leave them alone. He is often represented carrying his Cross behind Christ or holding his Cross with his hand over his heart signifying repentance. |
